Frigid NYC Hosts The Second Annual Neurotica Fest, Featuring “...but what if it rains?”* Sept 12 & 13, 2026 at Under St. Marks, Written and Performed by Vanessa Fleming.
New York, NY – “...but what if it rains?” is an award-winning, one-woman show written and performed by Vanessa Fleming, and will have its NYC premiere at Neurotica Fest. The show runs Sept 12 & 13 at Under St. Marks, 94 St. Marks Pl, NY, NY 10009.
In “…but what if it rains?” the carefree and unburdened Vanessa (Vanessa Fleming), finds herself clumsily stumbling through a different type of coming-of-age experience after the sudden and unexpected new role of becoming a caregiver for her mother, Diane (Vanessa Fleming). As she navigates the world she is now in that throws mammoth-sized curveballs at every turn, challenging her stamina and her wits as it reshapes her sense of self, she tries to meet the moment with humor and understanding, no matter how impossible everything seems.

ABOUT THE CAST AND CREW
Vanessa Fleming (Writer/Performer/Producer/AD) Vanessa Fleming is a comedian by night, and who cares by day because she learned long ago that the day job does not define you (she works in digital media). Vanessa has written and performed for the largest all-women sketch show, “Panties In A Twist,” is the EP for Coming Up Shortly Productions, plays the bass in a rock band, and continues to nurture her budding second act for herself through comedy and storytelling.
Kat “Danger” Schulze (Director) Kat has been performing for audiences of all ages for over 30 years because she has yet to learn her lesson. She is a founding member of Children’s Theatre of Hampton Roads and continues to contribute as a performer, director, and playwright. (Whether this is theatrical ambition or poor decision-making is still up for debate.)
Neurotica Fest and Frigid NYC (Festival Producers) The festival is comprised of solo shows, stand-up, bouffant, storytelling, book readings, and films. Founder Iris Bahr is proud to champion artists as yet unseen on the NY stage, and have Neurotica Fest be the NYC premiere for such a diverse group of compelling artists. FRIGID New York is an independent, non-profit theater company operating UNDER St Marks Theater, an off-off-Broadway venue in the East Village. We rent our space as well as co-produce there, and see a wonderfully wide range of artists come through our doors. Run by a small yet dedicated staff of artists, producers, techs, and creatives, FRIGID strives to offer our community a space in which they can make their art their way.
